Can’t Play Alekhine’s Gun on Your PC? Here’s Your Fix
Hello everyone,
If you’re struggling to get Alekhine’s Gun to work on your PC, whether you’re using a disc or Steam for playing, you’re definitely not alone. Many players face this issue, but fortunately, there’s a straightforward solution to get you back in the game quickly.
The Problem
Recently, on March 23, an update to Windows Defender caused a bit of a mix-up. This update mistakenly flags the AlekhinesGun.exe file as harmful, believing it contains a Trojan virus. Because of this, Windows Defender moves the file to quarantine automatically. This action prevents the game from launching as the essential executable file is inaccessible.
Step-by-Step Solution
To resolve this and get back to your game, just follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Access Windows Defender
First, open Windows Defender on your PC. This is the built-in antivirus software that Microsoft provides with Windows.
Step 2: Navigate to History Tab
Once you have Windows Defender open, locate and click on the “History” tab. This section keeps a log of all the security actions that Defender has taken.
Step 3: View Quarantined Items
In the History tab, you’ll find a button labeled “View Details.” Click this to proceed. It will display a list of all the items that Windows Defender has quarantined.
Step 4: Allow the Game File
Look through the list for anything related to AlekhinesGun.exe. When you find it, click on it, and you will see an option to “Allow” from a dropdown box on the right side of the row. Make sure you only do this for AlekhinesGun.exe to avoid potential risks to your system’s security.
Step 5: Launch the Game
After allowing the file, close Windows Defender and try launching Alekhine’s Gun again. It should work without any issues now.
And that’s it!
That’s all you need to do! Your game should be up and running as if nothing happened. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience during this mix-up. If you encounter any more issues or have questions, feel free to reach out to support@maximumgames.com for further assistance.
